London's outer suburbs can more than match the central area of the city for world class sights, relaxing spa hotels and sporting excellence. To the west the urban sprawl slowly turns into wide, open green areas with Hampton Court Palace, once home to Henry VIII, boasting 60 acres of parkland. Heathrow, London's main airport, is 15 miles (24 km) from the centre of the city and has excellent Tube, rail and road links.
